Durango, Colorado · 2027
Seven sports. One team. One legendary day.
The Valkyrie Relay is a seven-discipline team relay: trail run, mountain bike, road cycle, stand-up paddle, open-water swim, river paddle and road run, covered by one team across a single day in the San Juan Mountains. Registration for 2027 is not open yet.
Registration overview
Registration is team-based.
One captain registers the team and holds the entry. Teammates then join that team and complete their own details. Final roster requirements and submission deadlines will be published before registration opens.
Across the day your team covers all seven disciplines: trail run, mountain bike, road cycle, stand-up paddle, open-water swim, river paddle and road run.
Details coming soon

Entry price
What a team entry costs
One entry covers the whole team. When pricing is set we will publish the team price together with what that works out to per racer, so the number means something to the people actually deciding.
2027 team pricing coming soon
Entry pricing for 2027 has not been announced. When it is, it will be published here in full — the team price and what that works out to per racer — before registration opens.
Details coming soon
What a 2027 entry includes is being finalised with the rest of the event plan. We would rather list nothing than list something we have to take back.
Home Team Challenge
Racing for the home crowd?
Enter the Valkyrie Relay. Compete in the Home Team Challenge — a standing of its own for teams racing out of the Durango area, with its own recognition on the results board.
This race runs through your streets, your trails and your river. The Home Team Challenge exists so that finishing first among the teams who call this place home counts for something on its own terms.
Home Team teams register through the same process, on the same dates, at the same entry price as every other team. The Challenge is a competition category, not an entry type and not a discount.
Details coming soon
Final eligibility rules for the Home Team Challenge are published with the race rules, not at registration.
Proposed volunteer credit
Support the race. Earn a team credit.
We are developing an optional $75 credit for teams that provide two approved event volunteers. The opportunity would be available to every team - not only local teams - and would be issued after the required shifts are completed and verified.
Proposed credit: $75 per team
The amount is set. How the credit works, which shifts qualify and how it is paid back are still being confirmed, and will be published before registration opens.
How registration works
From the list to the start line
Join the registration list
Add your email. The list is how registration gets announced — it goes there before it goes anywhere else.
Receive the registration release
When registration opens, everyone on the list hears at once, with the price, the format and the terms all published at the same time.
Register as captain and reserve your team entry
One person enters the team and holds the spot. Final roster requirements and submission deadlines will be published before registration opens.
Complete your roster and leg assignments
Add your racers, then set who covers which of the seven disciplines.
Get ready for race day
Race information, logistics and what to bring go out to registered teams ahead of the weekend.
What teams should know
The things people ask before they commit
Final roster, transfer, refund, waitlist, waiver, age and equipment policies will be published before registration opens.
Roster changes
Teams routinely swap racers after entering. How late that can happen is being finalised.
Transfers
Whether an entry can move to another team or another person is being finalised.
Refunds and deferrals
Full terms are published on this page before registration opens, and before anyone is asked for money.
Waitlist
If registration fills, a waitlist is how any remaining spots get offered. How it runs is being finalised.
Waivers
Every racer signs a waiver in their own name. A parent or guardian signs for any racer under 18.
Age requirements
Minimum ages for 2027 are set with the race rules and published there.
Required equipment
The water legs carry mandatory safety equipment, including flotation for paddle and stand-up paddle racers. The full list is published with the race rules.
Why registration closes early
Headcount for insurance, permits, safety coverage and supplies locks well before race day. That is why entries close ahead of the event rather than at the start line.
