1 - Valkyrie Bivouacs ( Camp Sites )
Most grand adventures are supported by a base camp or staging area where you can meet up with your team to organize, acclimate, rest, fraternize, and prepare for race day.
Traditionally, 'bivouacs' were temporary, lightweight encampments of 18th-century soldier-mountaineers -- easy to set up, tear down and deploy from. With a 6:00 am start time, having a base camp located on-course will be the first strategic move you make to put your team ahead.
Bivouacs are a great place for your team to create camaraderie and prepare together. For our event sponsors, Bivouacs create a great opportunity to meet and support Valkyrie athletes in a central location, helping to create brand awareness for your business.
Sites are available at the following location. You can reserve more than one location for members that are racing in different legs.
Jordanelle Reservoir Rock Cliff Campground - Finish line for trail run (TRL), start line for paddle (PAD), and start line for Relay Road Run (RDR) and Heber Valley Marathon. Great spot for team members that want to roll out of bed and head to the RDR or PAD start lines or for those running the marathon. Showers at this location are unlikely to be open on race day.
Soldier Hollow Nordic Center Campground - This is minutes away from the finish line and start lines for the Road Run (RDR), Heber Valley Marathon and Half Marathon, Mountain Bike (MTB), Road Bike (RCY), and overall finish like for the relay. Great central location on the course and a perfect place for your Mtn. Bikers and Road Bikers to hang out. For those that reserve these spots you will have a great place for your team to hang out after the race.
