The Heber Valley Marathon & Half, and the Valhalla 5K Run/Walk & Pursuit are stand-alone races held concurrently with the Valkyrie Multisport Relay. Both the Marathon and Half-Marathon can each be run as traditional races, or as two-person relay teams. The Marathon begins at the Rock Cliff Nature Center at 6:00am, June 18, 2022, and the Half Marathon starts at Midway City Ice Rink at 7:30am. The Marathon and contiguous Half Marathon course will be USATF-certified by race day. The Heber Valley Marathon course distance is certified for accuracy and is valid as a qualifying event for large market races such as the New York and Boston Marathons.
The Tour of Heber Valley Marathon & Half pays homage to Utah’s celebrated Central Wasatch. Marathon and Half Marathon runners compete on the comparatively cool, scenic highways and country roads of Wasatch County, Midway, and Heber City, Utah. The first half of the full Marathon is a capricious B-line to Midway town center, pairing a 646 ft climb with a 1083 ft descent. The second half (also the Half Marathon) meanders through the tree-lined neighborhoods and past green pastures of Midway and Heber City before arriving at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center (SHNC) and Finish Line at the Endurance Sports Summit.
The Valhalla 5-Dollar 5K is a fundraiser event for Valkyrie-affiliated non-profits. It consists of two 1.55 mi laps within Soldier Hollow Nordic Center, circumnavigating the Endurance Sports Summit and Valkyrie Multisport Relay / Tour of Heber Valley Finish Line. Each lap runs on pavement and some gravel road with 125 ft in elevation gain for a total of 250 ft. The Start, Lap, and Finish Lines are the same and co-located with the Valkyrie and Tour of Heber Valley Finish Line.
The Pursuit is a companion race to the 5K using your fastest 5K lap time to stagger your start BEHIND slower 5K competitors who will start ahead of you.The start is staggered according to REVERSED position based on each runner's best lap time during the $5K. To win, overtake the field in front of you, resulting in a mass finish instead of a mass start. The Pursuit is a single lap sprint on the $5K course (1.55 mi). Only runners who compete in the 5K may sign up for the Pursuit. To register please sign up for the 5K.
